Critical Core Group

Building confidence and engagement one dragon at a time!

Children age 12-17 years old are invited to join our Critical Core group. Through fun and fantastical role playing games we will work together to defeat monsters, solve puzzles, build team work and develop social emotional skills.

Movement and Music Program

This Fall, come to STAR Institute’s Movement and Music Program. This program was developed in partnership with Swallow Hill Music, and is designed to expose young children to music in a supportive group setting. Movement and Music will be run by Amy Sweetin, MT-BC, a music therapist from Swallow Hill, as well as STAR Institute occupational therapist Vincentia Ferrari, MOT, OTR/L who has extensive training in the sensory integration approach and the DIR/Floortime methodology, both of which focus on the child’s capacity to regulate and communicate.

This program will help children develop skills associated with:

  • Regulation
  • Coordination
  • Body awareness
  • Social interactions/engagement
  • Following directions

Teen Cooking Club

Social Club • Cooking • Fun

This after school club focuses on building positive peer to peer interactions and increasing sense of self while engaging in motivating functional experiences. This group is for teens and tweens who have a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, SPD, or are just shy or have difficulty connecting. Ages 12-16 years.

There will be a Taste Test Dinner Party on the final week!

School Readiness Program

A program ideal for kids that are not quite ready for the school environment or are already enrolled in school, but need help solidifying foundation skills for success in a classroom environment.

CREW Social Skills Group

Social skills lessons are taught within the context of games and play while meeting a child’s individual sensory needs. The program is geared for verbal children that have basic peer awareness and would benefit from therapeutic activities to build reciprocal interactions. These positive experiences are foundational building blocks for a child’s social development.

Bike Riding Camp

Camp focused on building your child’s confidence on a bike in a fun, low-pressure environment. Great for building social skills as well. Children ages 4+ years.

Imagine Adventure Club

Join Imagine Adventure and play board games and role playing games with peers in a fun and safe space. This group uses table top games to build community, team work, self-confidence and flexibility in a setting that is motivating, exciting and enjoyable. A place to be yourself, learn to express yourself and learn to make friends. Children ages 9-11 years.

The Rebounders

A therapeutic trampolining superhero club!

The Rebounders is a 10 session social club built around superheroes and mini trampolines.The group is run by experienced Occupational Therapists and supports development of social engagement and shared problem solving. At The Rebounders the groupwork parallels what happens on the playground in a safe environment designed to meet every child where they are at and ensure success. Our strengths based approach supports regulation and is designed to improve sensory processing and integration skills. Children ages 4-10 years
