Immerse yourself in a journey of inspiration and enlightenment as we reveal our 5th Annual Virtual Summit: Sensory Health and Autism.

Building upon the success of our past events, this year's summit promises an even more transformative experience as we explore the complex intricacies of sensory health and its profound influence on the autistic journey.

As we step into our fifth year, we delve into the intricate terrain of sensory integration/processing, placing a specific emphasis on often overlooked facets like self-care and self-actualization. Say farewell to oversimplifications, as we navigate the multifaceted dimensions of sensory health in the realms of development, neurodivergent experience, and self-discovery.

Join us for a collaborative exchange of ideas, where neurodistinct professionals and advocates take center stage, articulating their unique perspectives. The mic will be passed around as we engage in thought-provoking discussions on the role of sensory health in development, the neurodivergent lifestyle, and best practices for therapeutic support.

Exclusive Content: Explore 12 hours of carefully curated presentations, covering wide-ranging, insightful, motivating, and challenging content.

Key Themes: Our event is designed to showcase Autistic insight, lived experiences, and evidence-based practices & research. By focusing on real-world applications and amplifying advocate voices, we aim to equip attendees with practical tools and strategies applicable in the realms of home, school, and community function and advocacy.

Empowerment in Every Session: Expect to be empowered through discussions that synthesize research, lived experience, theory and clinical insights. Our presentations bridge the gap between research and application, offering valuable insights that empower both individuals and professionals alike. Join the conversation as we celebrate diversity, inclusion, and the power of shared knowledge. Our annual event promises to be a catalyst for change. Join us in shaping a future where understanding sensory health is not just a goal but a shared journey towards a more compassionate and informed world.

Mark your calendars, spread the word, and embark on this journey with us. Together, let's redefine sensory health and celebrate neurodiversity!

After participating in this session, attendees should be able to:

  • Identify new, expanded understanding around the role of sensory motor functioning and sensory features in autism and the development of the autistic individual.
  • Identify limitations in current theory and practice regarding supporting the sensory needs of autistic people.
  • Explain strategies late-identified autistic adults can implement to cultivate self-care and occupational health.
  • Describe the impact of misophonia on occupation and participation.
  • Identify practical ways to support autistic people with differences in praxis and motor coordination.
  • Identify new, expanded understanding regarding incorporation of AAC into the occupational therapy process.
  • Describe how indigenous sensory supports and autistic belonging differ from Western cultural norms and medical model practice.
  • Develop strategies to enhance their competence and effectiveness in supervising and delivering occupational therapy services through a sensory-informed, trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming lens.
  • Critically analyze and integrate contemporary issues and trends in neurodiversity-affirming practices within occupational therapy.
  • Develop implementable strategies that respect and celebrate neurodiverse individuals' strengths and differences, to promote inclusion, participation, and empowerment in all aspects of life and therapy. (Contemporary issues and trends).
