Are you doing messy play at home and looking for ways to expand messy play? Below are 6 ways to expand messy play.
- Hid items inside of the slime/dough
- Use I wonder statements
- I wonder what creatures can be made
- I wonder what adventures we are going on
- I wonder what we will find/ make on our adventure
- Follow the child’s lead with theme/play and expand
- If a play theme is going camping maybe a fort can be built around the table to pretend play being in a tent and use brown play dough to make bugs
- Add a new location
- Expand the location features (are there rocks, grass etc)
- Go on an adventure through the house to find ingredients
- Pretend to fly through the galaxy to locate items
- Hop and crawl like different animals for find ingredients
- Read a book related to messy play idea

- Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
- Pete the Cat I Love my White Shoes
- Use music/singing songs
- Sing the Itsy-Bitsy Spider while doing water play or fizzy painting
