New Online Group Supervision Programs for Occupational Therapists

STAR Institute for Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is launching a new online Group Supervision Program for occupational therapists beginning March 2019. The focus of the new program is to bring like-minded professionals together in an online format to share and discuss challenging client cases. The new Group Supervision Programs will be held on Zoom for five weekly one-hour sessions on Wednesdays 8 PM - 9 PM ET, which allows occupational therapists throughout the world to join in the discussion and grow their clinical skills. A total of six programs will be offered throughout 2019 with the first group starting on March 13, 2019 and exclusively open to STAR Institute Level 1 Mentees.

During the programs, sensory-based occupational therapists bring their clinical questions and challenges to this group and problem solve in a collaborative model. Before the program begins, each participant will fill out a template presenting their most challenging case. Expert clinicians trained in the STAR Frame of Reference will help present these cases to the group and allow for open discussion. The therapist presenting their case will pose a clinical question to the group and together they will examine the question and help tackle it from a new vantage point. At the end of the open discussion, each member of the session will be able to make one final suggestion that they believe will best help the case.

“We are excited to launch the Group Supervision Program in March. This program offers a new way for therapists to look at their challenging client cases in group-think sessions while collaborating with fellow sensory and relationship-based occupational therapists,” said Dr. Lucy Jane Miller, Ph.D., OTR Founder of STAR Institute for Sensory Processing Disorder.
