Supporting Research in Academic Programs
STAR Institute is dedicated to building research capacitates and establishing collaborations with individuals interested in studying sensory integration and processing through the lifespan. STAR Institute is offering research support for faculty at all levels of experience. Dr. Sarah Schoen, Director of Research who has been an OT for 35 years and conducting research for the past 20 years, provides this unique opportunity. All consultations can be individualized to each person’s needs. For example, assistance can be provided in conceptualizing a study, submitting an Institutional Review Board (IRB) application, analyzing and interpreting existing data, or participating in manuscript preparation through submission. The hourly rate is typically $150 per hour. However, due to the current crisis, we are offering this consultation at a 50% reduction.

Supporting Independent Researchers
For those who want to be a clinician researcher but lack a university partner may want to take advantage of STAR Institute’s opportunities to help achieve this goal. We have a research mentorship program, taught by Dr. Sarah Schoen is a small group learning experience in setting up a study using a single subject research design. Alternatively, Dr. Sarah Schoen is available for 1:1 consultation in setting up a study, submitting an Institutional Review Board (IRB) application, assisting in data analysis and data interpretation as well as participating in manuscript preparation and selection of an appropriate journal for submission. The hourly rate is typically $100 per hour. However, due to the current crisis, we are offering this consultation at a 50% reduction.

Supporting Product Developers
Product developers are often looking for a setting within which to explore the effectiveness of a new strategy, tool, or program for children with sensory integration and processing challenges. The STAR Institute research team is available for consultation, study design, and study implementation. All requests will be evaluated to ensure they are consistent with the STAR Institute’s principles related to sensory, relationship, and regulation based. If a request is accepted, a proposal/budget will be agreed upon for the implementation of the project.
