Sonia Benzor, OTD, OTR/L (she/her)

Sonia graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and later earned a Master of Science in Business. She graduated with her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. While at UT Health, she served as President of the Student Occupational Therapy Association, was inducted into the Alpha Eta Society, and was honored with the Professional Student Leadership Award. She was part of the inaugural cohort for the Foundations of DIR Floortime course at UT Health. Sonia is a Certified Neuro Practitioner (CNP), certified CarFit technician, and LSVT BIG certified. 

Sonia’s Level II fieldwork included pediatric outpatient, adult acute care, and interdisciplinary autism diagnostics. Her doctoral capstone focused on developing a Foundations of DIR Floortime fidelity checklist to support student learning and clinical skill development. Her additional experiences include research on virtual-reality Parkinson’s interventions and field testing of the BOT-3 assessment. Sonia is passionate about relationship-based, neurodiversity-affirming care and has supported children with complex diagnoses through both clinical settings and recreational adaptive sports coaching.
