Investing in a Brighter Future

By coming to the STAR Institute, you are making an investment in the future of your entire family. While the benefits of receiving intensive treatment at the STAR Institute last a lifetime, we realize paying for these therapy services can be a financial concern for families. In an effort to ease the burden, STAR Institute offers a number of payment options which are described below.

Fees

Intake phone calls are provided free of charge. These calls, led by STAR clinicians, will help determine if therapy at STAR will benefit your family.

Every client is an individual with unique strengths and challenges, and requires a personalized approach. Because of this, assessment and therapy fees can vary greatly depending on each client’s diagnosis and treatment plan. Please contact us to discuss your individual needs and we will give you a better idea of what your costs are likely to be.

Generally, assessments/evaluations range from $1,500 to $2,500, while therapy typically falls somewhere in the range of $150 to $250 per session.

Payment Options/Financing

Pay As You Go
Pay each session prior to treatment at the time of service.

Pre-payment Discount
Pre-pay discounts of $15 per qualified service are available if you choose to pay in full prior to your first therapy session. This discount can be discussed with a team member.

Medicaid
STAR Institute is recognized as an accredited Colorado Medicaid provider, offering essential healthcare services to eligible individuals in the state. Contact us for more information and/or complete the new client inquiry form and select Medicaid.

Sliding Scale
STAR Institute offers a sliding scale based on household income. If your household income is <$140,000, you may qualify for sessions on a sliding scale basis. Please ask if you are interested.

Out-of-Network Billing to Insurance

STAR Institute is a private pay facility. STAR can work with you to submit documentation for reimbursement to your insurance company. Reimbursement may be possible depending on your insurance company, plan type, and out-of-network benefits. We are happy to support you in obtaining information from your insurance company on details needed to improve the chances of reimbursement.

To find out if you are eligible for insurance reimbursement before beginning treatment, call your insurance provider and ask:

  • What are my benefits for out-of-network occupational therapy, speech/language therapy or pediatric consultation?

  • What is my out-of-network deductible?

  • How much of my deductible has already been met?

  • How many visits are allowed per calendar year?

  • What percentage of the fee per session is covered based on usual and customary charges?

  • Is prior authorization required?

Feeding therapy services can include mental health, occupational therapy, and/or speech-language therapy, which makes billing complex. Therefore, if you are coming for these services, we would recommend that you speak to your insurance company

Other Options and Resources

Find out whether your employer offers a “flex-plan.” If they do, this means you can elect to put away funds to pay for treatment with tax-free dollars, providing substantial savings.

Additionally, if you have an HSA (Health Savings Account), funds from this account can be used to cover therapy services. Please ask a team member if you would like more information.
